1. CUE after every real library change
Run a CUE backup after changing playlists, adding or removing tracks, exporting from rekordbox, preparing a set, or coming back from a gig. The safest habit is simple: if the USB changed, capture it before you forget what changed.
2. Keep backups local and database-focused
LastCUE CUE creates a local snapshot of the rekordbox Device Library database files under PIONEER/rekordbox. It does not modify the source USB, and it is not a full copy of every music file. Keep your own music-file backup too.
3. Review track changes
A useful backup should show more than a timestamped folder. Check which tracks were added, removed, or changed between CUE backups so you can spot unexpected library movement before it becomes a stage problem.
4. Review playlist and playlist-content changes
Playlist names and folder structure matter, but so does the content inside each playlist. Review playlist changes separately from playlist-content changes so you can see both “this playlist changed” and “these tracks moved in or out.”
5. Back up before repair, then test separately
Before repairing a damaged Device Library, make an independent backup and work from a copy. Write repair output to a candidate folder or test USB first, then verify it before trusting it on a real performance drive.
